asia grand . ginza barin

Travelled all the way to Asia Grand to have lunch together with Rain. She has staff discount! 😁

This beef stomach looks like honeycomb.

No idea what to have for dinner and we ended up at Ginza Barin because there’s offer if we redeem selected meals via J.Passport.

Missing the oyako don in Kyoto again. 😅

This is yums!

i’m strong headed . victor’s kitchen

Somebody commented that I am strong headed. I think she meant it as a negative comment but I feel it’s positive and I choose to be like that.

12 Things You Need To Know About A Strong-Willed Woman

1. She doesn’t need your help.
In fact, it is the last thing she wants. She needs to be able to solve problems on her own and speak up for herself because she craves being challenged and pushed. If she really needs help, she will ask for it. It won’t be easy for her to do, so take her seriously when she reaches out.

2. She’ll tell it how it is.
She doesn’t have time to sugarcoat things and she doesn’t want to, because that’s when meaning gets lost or confused along the way. She often throws in vulgarities to get her point across. If you want an honest opinion or viewpoint, just know that you’ll get one from her no matter what. She’d rather tell you the painful truth than make you feel better with a lie.

3. She thinks—a lot.
Her mind is a constant whirlwind of information, emotion, and analysis. To her, every word is loaded, whether she wants it to be or not. She is always trying to put pieces together in her mind because she wants to make sense of what is going on before she vocalizes anything. Her imagination can run wild, but that’s only because she wants to be prepared for anything that comes her way. To her, her thoughts and ideas are what bring everything together, and once she gathers them, she will make them known.

4. She questions every rule, norm, assumption, and basically everything that she is told.
Nothing is normal or static in her book. She thinks that rules are meant to be broken, norms should be changed, and assumptions are typically off. She doesn’t like traditional notions because she doesn’t see the fun or uniqueness in them. When she’s told something, she questions it because she is looking out for herself and believes she deserves the honest information. Let her question and challenge things; it keeps her on her toes.

5. She’s passionate about the things she loves.
Once you get her going, there’s no stopping her. She can go on and on about her goals and passions because she invests everything she has into them. You’ll see her eyes light up as if you flipped a switch.

6. She is fiercely loyal and faithful.
She will stick by the people she cares about through thick and thin. She will never try to hurt someone she loves intentionally. And to her, the biggest betrayals in life are lying and cheating. If done to her or someone she cares about, she will not hesitate to call you out on it and/or cut you out of her life completely because you broke her trust, which is unacceptable from her point of view.

7. She refuses to settle.
Settling is her worst nightmare. She doesn’t want to wake up 20 years from now wishing she tried harder. She is always searching for something more, whether from a relationship or a job. She expects the best for herself and will work for it. If things ever start to settle for her, she will stir up the waters to make life interesting again.

8. She values her freedom and space.
She actually likes to do things on her own and goes out of her way to bond with herself. Freedom is what drives her and space is what she pines for. Try to take those things away from her and she will go from 0 to 100 real quick.

9. She’s comfortable in her skin.
She embraces it. She wears what she wants. She takes care of herself and dances whenever she pleases. The scars on her skin are beautiful to her, reminding her of what she has survived. She plays up her features and emphasizes her unique quirks. When complimented, she will reply “I know” or simply thank you for saying something. She doesn’t need reassurance because she can give it to herself, even on her worst days.

10. She has a hot temper.
When provoked, beware—she will say what’s on her mind without hesitation. A strong-willed woman will stick up for herself and advocate for what she thinks is right in the heat of the moment. Most importantly, remember to give her time and space when she is angry. She will likely see more clearly when the smoke settles and she can recollect her thoughts.

11. She’s hard on herself.
She is her toughest critic. She is consistently pushing herself, expecting more in order to achieve. If she fails, she takes the blow directly because she knows that she can do better. She expects a lot from herself and will continually set the bar high. She doesn’t give up; instead, she takes the time to learn from mistakes and mishaps so she doesn’t have to be in the same position again. She doesn’t need someone to tell her everything’s okay; she can do that herself. It may take time for her to regain her perspective and pick herself up, but she will.

12. Her silence will speak much louder than her words.
If she’s not saying anything after a while, you should be concerned. A strong-willed woman will speak up after she gathers her thoughts, but if not, her silence itself is a message. At this point, she may not even want to waste her time and energy on the subject. It may also mean that she is working out things in her head, demonstrating that she values what’s going on enough to actually think about it. But don’t get your hopes up if she is silent for a long period of time—usually this is past the point of no return.

A strong-willed woman is a person who speaks her mind and defends her values. Even if she is seen as bossy, demanding, or stubborn, she doesn’t really care. She’s the kind of woman who wants the best for herself, her loved ones, and for the better of society.

Oh wait. Did I forget to put concealer over my dark eye ring? 😞

My colleague wanted to go to the temple to ask for her luck and I tagged along. Seriously needed to know if my career will get better.
For somebody who has so many skill sets and used to head multiple projects in the company… I actually feel redundant during the restructure in the company. 😟 I hate it. Hate that nothing is within my control.

‘The rot starts from the top.’ This is so true.

Things should be better soon, I hope?
I wanna go back again, I have another question that needs an answer. 😣

Victor’s Kitchen
Xiao long bao and carrot cake! The carrot cake really awesome today, soft and fragrant.

Char siew polo, siew mai and egg tart!

wah lok cantonese restaurant . teppei syokudo

Team lunch at Wah Lok Cantonese Restaurant.

Chicken puff. Colleagues raved about it but I think it’s ok-ok leh.

Char Siew polo bun. I like that it’s soft but the filling is too sweet for me.

Chee cheong fun.

The basics. Oh the meatball is very nice! First time having something like that.

Fried yam. 👍

Egg tart.

I had soya beancurd for dessert, texture is like almond jelly almost like lao ban. I think traditional tauhuey will be better though.

Used up my vouchers from Teppei! Small tiny serving. Not satisfied. Don’t think I will ever be back again.

truffle mushroom bao

Bought this last night and asked Mum to heat it up for breakfast this morning. Preparing breakfast is not a usual thing in the family but I know she will do it because she has something new to try. Heehee. 😁

Amazed. It really looks like mushroom, especially when Mum heats up the whole pack… it’s a whole plate of mushrooms. Hahaha. And it’s nice leh! I like. 👍 $6.60 for a pack of 6. Must have.

Yong tau foo in laksa soup, no noodles for less guilt. 😅

japanese snacks . thai gold food . victor’s kitchen . crave nasi lemak

Got these snacks some time ago. Left them aside for quite long because they just look damn milky until I was hungry this morning.

This one is eergh… taste wise ok. Texture all the way baddddd. Crumbly, powdery and it leaves a oily waxy feeling in the mouth. Eek. Hate it.

This is like 白色恋人, which I only like the milk chocolate ones. White chocolate is yucky to me. But this one! Woo! It’s good! It has this fragrance of honey. I love honey. 👍

Lunch at Thai Gold Food which I’ve been seeing reviews on Burrple.

The tom yam soup quite good but I think got quite a lot MSG.

Omelette was quite good. Fluffy.

Pad see yew. Got wok hei.

Mixed vegetables. A bit salty.

Barbecue pork wasn’t what I was hoping for, so I was a bit disappointed. Not fatty enough… if only it was pork shoulder or cheek, it would be perfect.

The guys very scary leh… I think they still wanna have some bites and we ended up in Victor’s Kitchen. Ordered so many food!!! 😫

Xiao long bao. 👍👍👍

You’ll love it if you are a fan of buttery crust.

Please let me get it. 🙏

Nasi lemak for dinner.

Chicken wing set is $5.90. Chicken wing on point, egg still runny. 👍
I like the long grain rice. Omg. If I wasn’t careful enough, I would have finished the whole plate of rice. 😅

They have the satay chicken set on promo now, $9.90 with a calamansi drink.

Quite surprise that Crave is by Selera Rasi at Adam Road. I’ve been there before but I don’t find it specially good.

rom lunch – summer pavilion at ritz calton

We were planning to go Li Bai Cantonese Restaurant at Sheraton Hotel for the ROM lunch initially but TC’s Sister told us that their quality has dropped, so we chose Summer Pavilion instead which was equally good.

Who doesn’t want to celebrate their special day at a pretty place with quality food, right?
We were given a private room! Yay! The table was able to seat all 13 pax and it’s still quite spacious.

I have already made the arrangements with the manager much earlier.

I’m going to give a run through of the packaged menu that I have ordered. We got the Daffodil lunch set for all the adults.

  • 夏苑四小碟 (Summer Pavilion Platter of Four) – 香煎元贝, 烧鸭, 黄金生虾, 卤水牛展 (Pan-fried Scallop, Homemade Sauce, Barbecued Duck, Baked Prawn with Salted Egg Yolk, Marinated Sliced Beef Shank, Beancurd)
  • 竹笙蟹肉菘菇烩燕窝 (Braised Bird’s Nest Soup, Crabmeat, Bamboo Piths, Pine Mushrooms)
  • 露笋山药炒贵妃蚌 (Sautéed Canadian Clam, Asparagus, ‘Huai Shan’)
  • 潮式蒸笋壳鱼 (Teochew-style Steamed ‘Soon Hock’ Fish Fillet, Beancurd, Tomatoes, Salted Vegetables)
  • 一品茶皇鸡 (Marinated Smoked Chicken, Chinese Tea Leaves)
  • 有机黑蒜浓汤浸双蔬 (Poached Duo of Vegetables, Superior Stock, Organic Black Garlic)
  • 姜葱鸡丝焖银丝面 (Braised Hong Kong Noodles, Shredded Chicken, Ginger, Spring Onions)
  • 冻南北杏双耳青苹果 (Chilled Green Apple, Assorted Fungus, Almond Flakes)

I requested for the beef item in the first dish to be replaced with something else and the manager kindly changed it to Barbecued Honey Pork.

While the two kids had the Orchid lunch menu.

  • 精美点心拼盘 (Selection of Dim Sum)
  • 原盅炖汤 (Double-boiled Soup of the Day)
  • 香芒脆鲈鱼 (Pan-fried Sea Perch, Mango Salad, Thai Sauce)
  • 蒜子白玉焖猪软骨伴露笋素肉烩饭 (Braised Pork, Pine Mushroom, Beancurd, Garlic, Braised Rice, Vegetarian Meat, Diced Asparagus, Carrot, Spring Onion, Egg)
  • 精美甜品 (Dessert of the Day)

I totally forgot to request for non-spicy. Didn’t come across to me that Thai Sauce is spicy.

The total bill came was a little more than $1,600 including tea and taxes, which we think is alright. At least it wasn’t like any other forgettable wedding meals, plus the ambience was good, service top notch. We had a waitress allocated to our room and she has never ever let us wait too long.

Tea was the only thing that w had to order on the spot.

This is the Lychee Oolong Tea and my Dad likes it because he knows it is a good quality tea. The french beans with dried shrimps is a snack before our meal.

This was the Summer Pavilion Platter of Four which consists of Pan-fried Scallop with Homemade Sauce, Barbecued Duck, Baked Prawn with Salted Egg Yolk and Barbequed Honey Pork.

My Mum kept saying why only one or two pieces for each person because it was so good, she wanted more. She will regret saying this later because she was struggling to stomach the last few dishes.

The second dish was Braised Bird’s Nest Soup, Crabmeat, Bamboo Piths & Pine Mushrooms. Thumbs up for this because having bird’s nest is better than shark’s fin, and it sounds so much more ‘beautifying’. Muahahaha! The ladies will love this.

Third was Sautéed Canadian Clam, Asparagus, ‘Huai Shan’.
It was our first time having the clam and it’s weirdly shaped, when we google… it was actually a coral clam. I like the deep-fried things at the side, which I think is enoki mushrooms.

Fourth, Teochewstyle Steamed ‘Soon Hock’ Fish Fillet with Beancurd, Tomatoes and Salted Vegetables.
The fish was really fresh, tender and smooth, all of us finished up the sauce and none was left. My parent even asked the waitress to leave the fish head, so that they could have it. #nothingwasted

Fifth was Marinated Smoked Chicken with Chinese Tea Leaves, the dish that I totally looked forward to and did not disappoint. Fragrant, tender and juicy. Awesome.

Sixth. Poached Duo of Vegetables in Superior Stock with Organic Black Garlic. Parents loved the touch of the black garlic, they basically collected the black garlic from the youngsters who didn’t want it. LOL.

Seventh. Braised Hong Kong Noodles with Shredded Chicken, Ginger and Spring Onions.
We were very full by then and still managed to finish it because it’s so good~

Lastly, the dessert. Chilled Green Apple with Assorted Fungus and Almond Flakes.
Green apple sounds like such a cheap and simple dessert, right? Everyone loves it and my Papa was already thinking about how he can prepare this himself.

Really. Thumbs up!

#dayre #dayrebrides #dayrefoodies

I’m still editing the other pictures taken during the ROM, so I’ll update when it ready. Oh, we will have another wedding celebration, probably within the next two years which will include all friends and relatives.

We haven’t been stressful in any of our planning, we just let everything take it’s course and things will just fall in place as time goes. =) Going to focus on our renovation next, after we have collected out keys. Woohoo! Can’t wait to get the keys!

victor’s kitchen . ilight . bergs gourmet burgers

Feeling a bit punky today.

Well. At least bye bye to all the pms swelling! Woohoo! I can look thin again.

Feeling very protected in the train now. 😂

Victor’s Kitchen, finally here to try the dim sum!!

Waaa… I like the milk tea!!! Very thick! The ice is in a separate bowl to keep the milk tea cool, so that the drink won’t get diluted.

Awesome pan fried XO chee cheong fun. I’m still burping the smell. Lol lol.

Prawns in the prawn dumplings are very fresh and big. Waaa. I’m not a fan of prawn dumplings but I like these.

Siew mai has nice prawns too. Nom.

The meat is xiao long bao is quite big, like meatball. Haha. The soup inside is good.

Char siew boluo bao. 😍😍😍😍😍

Cappuccino for TC.

A cup of thick and creamy chai soy latte for me. 😋

random musings

I have a cute little humidifier in office now! 😄

Perfect for my bunny.

Dim sum lunch!
The liu sha bao is weird. The pandan smell too overpowering liao.

The carrot cake got a slight tinge of like baking soda taste in it?

Xiao long bao in a little container. The skin too soft, can’t hold its soup in.

XO sauce seafood fried rice is pretty good.

The whole Chinese restaurant only got 2 tables taken and one of it was us. Lol. Quiet meal.

Today is the day…

I un-followed somebody on FB because who needs negative emotions on my social media? Lol. I cannot. Suan le ba. Little thing also need to get affected, then life will get even more miserable leh.

Come. I clap for myself.
