One of the best buys at Chatuchak, I customised a tote bag for myself! There’s also t-shirts, mugs and caps.

Tea break at McDonald’s, trying their new spring roll pie. Really is just spring roll with a different ‘crust’.

Took a look around the whole cafe while we are waiting for the food to come.

Look at the drink! This is Wild Gardenia, got this because of the colourful ice cubes. I feel like Alice in Wonderland.

Food was good overall but the braised beef cheek which was from their new menu wasn’t, so that was a risk.

bangkok day 1 – greyhound cafe . pla thong mookata

Too early.

First time we had to take the airport shuttle to board out planes.

Once we have left our luggage at the hotel, we went to get some snacks at 7-eleven, as the Greyhound Cafe at Siam Center isn’t opened yet. Yes, we arrived Bangkok very early.

Decor in Greyhound Cafe was beautiful. Loved the greens.

The food wasn’t as good as we expected though. Beef was chewy tough and pork was a little tad dry. Drinks was alright but I wouldn’t go back for just the drinks if the food wasn’t good.

Then it was dinner at Pla Thong Mookata. It was the girl’s first time having mookata in Bangkok.

Although the toilet looks like it was build to be shared. One side toilet, the other side shower but there’s only one door which slides to whichever side that was in use. *face palm* Door was quite translucent too, can see shape and colour, so we can’t even use the basin while somebody is showering or pooping or peeing.

gyu nami

Finally tried Gyu Nami’sbeef don after seeing it multiple times on Burpple.

There’s only one item on the menu so there’s other options, not even add-ons. $10 for a small bowl, although it was just nice for me. Beef is tender and soft but the rest was quite disappointing. Would be nice if they could include furikake in the rice and replace mayo with brown sauce. Won’t be back again.

_

I made teriyaki chicken salad. Gotta watch my diet, especially my dinners.

folks collective

Lunch set at Folks Collective is only $9.90+ , I ordered the beef stew noodles and comes with little spring rolls. Pretty good and value for money.

_

Sushi Express with the parents, they have this new item but I have no idea what it is. I know there’s tobiko inside.

They keep throwing chocolates in my basket like it’s free. LOL.

random musings . dry and preserve curry Leaves

Having Tako Katsu burger again. Yum.

_

Dinner of the day
– Thai glass noodle salad (yum woon sen)
– Stir-fry celery
– Salted egg chicken
– Apple, white fungus with almond in honey water

_

I bought a pack of curry leaves for the salted egg chicken but I only need a sprig of it. Haha. So I did a search online on how to store the rest of it.

Instructions

    1. Wash the leaves thoroughly
    2. Remove the leaves from the stalk, place the wet leaves on a kitchen towel and gently pat them with the towel to remove excess water.
    3. Place the leaves on a large tray and spread them in a single layer. Place the tray in a cool shade inside your home and leave them to dry. Cover with a thin cloth if there is dust.

Notes

  • Depending on the weather, the leaves will dry in 2-3 days. It is important to dry them in shade to retain as much flavour. Sun drying is faster but will result in loosing most of the flavour and aroma.
  • Once dried, store the dry and crisp curry leaves in an air-tight container and use it whenever needed just like fresh curry leaves. You can also pack them and send them as gifts to your family and friends who live outside India!
  • Dried curry leaves will crumble very easily, so store them in a big container.

random musings

Greendot today! Somehow there isn’t much variety at Northpoint City

_

Got Dad and Mum to go ikea shopping with us and we had dinner together near our place. The oyster omelette sucks even though the stall’s Hokkien mee was really good. Garlic pork from the Thai stall was very yum.

mcgriddles

McGriddles at Punggol Safra’s McDonald’s, get a free dessert if you are a Safra member. We shared one dessert though, if not we won’t be able to finish it.

McGriddles got a little bit too much for me halfway, too doughy.

_

Dinner of the day
– Teriyaki mackerel
– Edamame
– Korean seaweed porridge
